The event, held last Saturday, April 25th, at the University for International Cooperation (UCI) as part of the 2nd ReFi Costa Rica Meeting, solidified its position as a key space for the convergence of decentralized finance and territorial <strong>regeneration .<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Crypto Caf\u00e9 is a monthly activity made possible thanks to the support of the <strong>Localism Fund <\/strong>, a global initiative backed by the <strong>Ethereum Foundation <\/strong>and <strong>Ethereum Everywhere <\/strong>, whose objective is to bring Ethereum network innovation to the physical world and local economies in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>A Meeting Point for the Regeneration Economy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was the result of a multi-sector collaboration between <strong>AsoBlockchain <\/strong>, <strong>ReFi Costa Rica <\/strong>, <strong>CofiBlocks <\/strong>, <strong>Weall Costa Rica <\/strong>, and <strong>UCI <\/strong>. Under the vision of the <strong>Economy of Wellbeing <\/strong>, the gathering replaced traditional sustainability paradigms with a <strong>regeneration approach <\/strong>, seeking not only to conserve but also to restore social and ecological systems with the support of cutting-edge technological tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event featured the participation of Karla C\u00f3rdoba Brenes, president of AsoBlockchain, who highlighted how these technologies are redefining resilience and transparency in key sectors for the country&#8217;s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>Diversity and Participation: The Face of the New Economy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The success of the event lay in the representativeness of its attendees. More than 30 professionals and leaders from diverse sectors, many with no prior knowledge of Web3, had their first hands-on experience with blockchain technology. The audience profile included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Organic food producers and regenerative entrepreneurs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rural tourism leaders and environmental education specialists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers and strategic consultants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representatives of NGOs and public entities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Academics and university professors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A representative of the Bribri-Cab\u00e9car indigenous peoples.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coffee producers from CofiBlocks and active members of the ReFi Costa Rica community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>Thematic Depth and Financial Transparency<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The event program addressed critical topics for the evolution of the digital ecosystem. Weall Costa Rica introduced conceptual frameworks for an economic system that prioritizes life; Eduard Muller, Rector of UCI, presented the Micelio network, an educational platform in the field of regeneration that uses blockchain for issuing verifiable credentials; and Stefan Fiedler, coordinator of ReFi Costa Rica, shared information on the event&#8217;s financial management using tools such as SAFE, Metamask, Lulubit, and Valora (Celo&#8217;s wallet), operating with tokens like cUSD and USDC to ensure absolute traceability of resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>Practical Experiences: Real Onboarding<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Through dynamic workshops, attendees interacted with live protocols:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>MUDA (Cambiatus): <\/strong>Participants created accounts to manage impact actions, generating MUDAs as a reward for their participation in the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CofiBlocks: The Ecobeneficio Jim\u00e9nez <\/strong>case was presented , where third-generation coffee farmer Pablo Jim\u00e9nez shared his family&#8217;s story and the ease of transacting specialty coffee through blockchain, achieving direct sales during the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bloom Network: <\/strong>Randall Sabor\u00edo of ReFi Costa Rica and Diamante Bridge Collective introduced the Bloom platform, helped attendees create accounts, and facilitated their joining of the San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica Hub. Governance structures for decentralized community collaboration were explored.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>Pitch Session: Initiatives with Regional Impact<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the highlights was the pitch session, where seven local projects presented their connection to Web3 or requested support for its implementation. This forum will be the culmination of these discussions, where national and international success stories will set the tone for the region&#8217;s financial future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From AsoBlockchain and Fintech Costa Rica, we invite the local and regional blockchain community to be part of this transformation.
