Asociación Blockchain Costa Rica (Asoblockchain) has been invited to take part in the 25th ACORBAT International Meeting and the 10th CORBANA International Banana Congress, taking place April 20–23, 2026 at the Centro Internacional de Congresos de Yucatán in Mérida, Mexico.

This is a technical and scientific event focused on the banana sector’s key challenges, including research and discussion around cultivation, exports, and international collaboration. The program features high-level keynote sessions, a trade expo showcasing the latest in technology and logistics, and a global gathering of participants from over 40 countries.

Ilán Meléndez Lugo, Vice President of the Asociación Blockchain Costa Rica (Asoblockchain), will be speaking on “The Added Value of Transparency in the Banana Industry.”

In his session, Ilán will draw on comparable Latin American experiences and explain how blockchain can act as a trust layer for traceability, digital identity, and multi-stakeholder coordination across agri-food ecosystems. The session will also cover:

• The role of an immutable, distributed ledger as a technical foundation for transparency.
• Building verifiable narratives by recording events chronologically across the value chain.
• Key success factors for making multi-stakeholder implementations work in practice.
